Review: sight words in stories · Mixed review: adding and taking away · Wind and air
Week 34 of 36 in kindergarten, in quarter 4. Five days, about 70 minutes each.
Reading: a review week (sight words in stories). Every sound so far, writing words by their sounds, and the sight words “new” and “now”. The new story is “Mop Can Hop”, and the reread is “The Red Hat”.
Math: Mixed review: adding and taking away. Adding and taking away within 10, with story problems and games.
Science: Wind and air. Air is all around us even though we cannot see it, and moving air is wind.
Read-alouds: “Mia and the Kite”, “The Stuck Kite”, “The Hat Cat”, “Fay and the Kite” and “Marit and the Storm Pony”.
For the whole family: Make paper fans or pinwheels and test how much air it takes to move different things.
