Review the letter sounds
- Point to each letter learned so far (m, s, a, t, p, i, n, d, c, o, g, h, e, l, r, u, f, b, k, j, w, v, x, y, z and qu); your child says its sound.
- Go back over any sound that is slow, with a word that starts with it.
- Spin the letter wheel for a quick game: say the sound of whatever it lands on.

Air is all around
- Wave a hand fast near your face: you feel air you can't see.
- Blow up a balloon: what is inside it?
Read-aloud15 min
Read-aloud: Mia and the Kite
- Read “Mia and the Kite” aloud. It is above what your child reads alone, on purpose: hearing longer stories builds words and understanding.
- Before reading, look at the title and the first page and ask: what do you think this story is about?
- On the read-along you can show the pages on a big screen, or let it read the words aloud while each one lights up.
- Mia and the Kite, read-along on screenteach.peabody.kids/read-aloud/mia-and-the-kite
