Kindergarten, week 34, day 2

Day 167 of 180 · Science: Wind and air · about 70 minutes

Reading20 min

Write the sounds

  1. Say a sound; your child writes the letter for it. Go through the letters learned so far.
  2. Then say a short word (job, sip, mud, rot, in and lot); your child says its sounds and writes it, one sound at a time.
  3. Check together. Writing a word by its sounds is real progress, even with a letter off.
Math20 min

Fact families

  1. With 3, 4 and 7, write 3 + 4 = 7, 4 + 3 = 7, 7 − 3 = 4 and 7 − 4 = 3.
  2. Do another family with 2, 6 and 8.
Science15 min

Watching the wind

  2. Which way is the wind blowing it today? Check again tomorrow.

Read-aloud: The Stuck Kite

  1. Read “The Stuck Kite” aloud, with your child beside you where they can see the pictures.
  2. Stop halfway and ask: what do you think will happen next?
