Homeschool planner app free: what "free" means at Planet, Tracker and here

Two of the best-known homeschool planners are free for a trial and then paid. Here is what their own pages said, and what Peabody's free tools do instead.

On their own pricing pages, opened 30 Oct 2026, Homeschool Planet offers a 30-day free trial and then costs $84.95 a year for a family, and Homeschool Tracker offers a 7-day trial and then $8 a month or $65 a year. Neither lists a free plan. Peabody's planner and Record Book are free, need no account, and keep everything in your browser.

What records do they keep?

Homeschool Tracker's page names hour-tracked attendance, print-ready transcripts, a report card that rolls up grades and attendance, CSV or PDF export, and compliance packs for New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio and North Carolina, with generic exports for other states.

Homeschool Planet's pricing page does not name attendance, grades, transcripts or report cards, so check its feature pages if you need them.

What does Peabody's free planner do?

  • A week grid, a loop list and a block plan for each of up to eight children.
  • Saved only in this browser; nothing is sent anywhere.
  • Prints cleanly; a share link carries the plan with children called Child 1, Child 2.

What does it not do?

It is not a lesson-by-lesson calendar, it does not reschedule missed lessons for you, and it does not sync between devices on its own (the share link and the Record Book's backup file move things by hand). There are no mobile apps to install.

Where are the records, then?

In the Record Book, also free and on your device: attendance, hours, the reading log, the report card, progress reports, the portfolio, the transcript and an evaluation pack that prints them together. Each printed sheet has a signature line.

Which should I pick?

If you want a full lesson calendar with phone apps and are happy to pay and keep data in an account, try a paid planner's trial and set a reminder before it ends. If you want a weekly plan and the records your state asks for, with no account and nothing leaving your device, use Peabody's.
