Homeschool portfolio builder

Photograph your child's work, add a note, and print a portfolio of work samples by date or subject. The pictures stay on your computer and are never uploaded.

Opening your records on this device...

How to use it

  1. Add your child and check the school year. Then add a work sample: the date, the subject, a title, and one or more photos or files.
  2. Pictures are shrunk and saved again on your computer, which also removes the location and camera details a phone puts in a photo. Other files, such as a PDF, are kept as they are.
  3. Add a note about what the work shows. Fix a title, date or note on any sample below, or add more pictures to it.
  4. Press Print the portfolio for a dated record with a signature line, in order by date or by subject. Download a backup now and then; it includes every picture, and the records live only in this browser.

Ideas for class

  • Take one photo of a good page each week; fifteen minutes on Friday is enough to keep a year of samples.
  • Pick samples from the start, middle and end of the year so the growth is plain to see.
  • Photograph what is hard to keep: a model, a science project, a drawing, a page from a nature journal.
  • Include a sample for every subject you are asked to show, and use the note to say what was taught.

Questions

Are my child's pictures uploaded anywhere?

No. A picture is read, shrunk and saved inside this browser on this computer. It is never sent to Peabody or anyone else, there is no account, and the page works the same offline once it has loaded.

What happens to the location in a photo?

Pictures are drawn onto a canvas and saved again as a smaller JPEG, which keeps only the pixels. The location, the camera model and the time that phones write into a photo are not carried over. Files that are not pictures, such as a PDF, are kept exactly as they are.

How much can I keep?

That depends on your browser and your computer, which decide how much one site may store. Pictures are shrunk to save room. The page shows the space used. If it fills up, download a backup, which includes every picture, and remove old samples.

What happens if I clear my browser's data?

The portfolio goes with it, pictures included. It is kept only in this browser, not on our servers, so we cannot get it back. Download a backup file now and then; it holds everything and you can restore it on any computer.

Does my state require a portfolio?

Some states ask for one as part of a yearly review or evaluation, and many do not. What a portfolio must hold is the state's rule, not this page's. Check your state's page, and use this tool to keep and print whatever you are asked to show.

Names, notes and pictures are saved in this browser only, and nothing is sent or uploaded. No sign-in, no ads.
