Kindergarten homeschool plan, week 23

Review: sh, ch, th, ck and ng · Taking away within 10 · Homes, then and now

Week 23 of 36 in kindergarten, in quarter 3. Five days, about 70 minutes each.

Reading: a review week (sh, ch, th, ck and ng). Every sound so far, writing words by their sounds, and the sight words “have” and “they”. The new story is “Ring the Bell”, and the reread is “The Big Truck”.

Math: Taking away within 10. Subtracting within 10 by taking away and by counting back.

History: Homes, then and now. How homes were lit, heated and kept long ago, and what has changed.

Read-alouds: “The Thread That Glowed”, “The Little Lantern”, “The Princess and the Pea”, “The Three Little Pigs” and “The Wolf and the Seven Little Goats”.

For the whole family: Spend one evening hour with the lights off and talk about how families managed before electric lights.
