Kindergarten homeschool plan, week 24
Blends with s: st, sp, sn, sk · Story problems within 10 · School, then and now
Week 24 of 36 in kindergarten, in quarter 3. Five days, about 70 minutes each.
Reading: s blends, two sounds side by side, each still heard: s-t-o-p, s-p-i-n. Words to read and spell: stop, step, spin, spot, snap, snug, skip and skin. Sight words: “do” and “what”. The new story is “Stop, Bus!”, and the reread is “Ring the Bell”.
Math: Story problems within 10. Solving adding and taking-away stories within 10 with drawings and things.
History: School, then and now. One-room schoolhouses, slates and chalk, and how learning has changed and stayed the same.
Read-alouds: “Mop Is Sad”, “Newt Is Nervous”, “The Elephant's Child”, “The Four Big Pages” and “Winnie-the-Pooh and the Bees”.
For the whole family: Play school the old way for an hour: one room, everyone together, slates or small chalkboards.
