1st grade homeschool plan, week 10
Silent e: a_e · Taking away within 20 · Living and nonliving
Week 10 of 36 in 1st grade, in quarter 2. Five days, about 85 minutes each.
Reading: a_e, the e at the end is silent and makes the a say its name: cap becomes cape. Words to read and spell: cake, make, game, name, gate, tape, cave and plane. Sight words: “how” and “just”. The new story is “Kip and the Crab”, and the reread is “The Red Hat”.
Math: Taking away within 20. Subtracting within 20 by counting back, by going back to 10, and by thinking of adding.
Science: Living and nonliving. Living things grow, need food and water, and make more of their kind; rocks, toys and water do not.
Read-alouds: “Three Rocks in a Shoebox”, “Who Lives Under the Log?”, “Tadpoles in a Jar”, “Dinosaurs Are Still Here” and “The Frog Prince”.
For the whole family: Sort a pile of things from around the house and yard into living, once living, and never living.
