Day 50 of 180 · Science: Living and nonliving · about 85 minutes

Reading25 min

Reread: The Red Hat

  1. Reread “The Red Hat” from last week. The second time is smoother and quicker: that is fluency growing.
  2. Find this week's sight words, “how” and “just”, in the book or on their cards.
  3. Let your child pick one page to read to someone else in the family.
Math25 min

Taking away within 20 on paper

  1. Do a subtraction within 20 sheet.
  2. Write next to two of them which way you solved it.
Science20 min

Living, once living, never living

  1. Sort a pile of things into living, once living and never living.
  2. Talk about the tricky ones, like a seed or a wooden spoon.
Read-aloud15 min

Read-aloud: The Frog Prince

  1. Read “The Frog Prince” aloud. If your child asks to hear it again, say yes: hearing a story twice is how it sticks.
  2. This is an old tale, told for a long time. Afterward, ask: what did someone in the story learn?
