Opening your records on this device...

How to use it

  1. Add your child and check the dates of your school year. If your state or umbrella school asks for a number of hours, type it as the hours to reach.
  2. Log time as you go: choose the date and the subject, type the time (45, 1:30 or 1.5h), and press Add. The date and subject stay put so you can log several subjects for one day quickly.
  3. Watch the total, the hours by subject and the month-by-month table fill in. Fix any entry in the list below.
  4. Press Print the hours log for a table by subject and month with a signature line. Download a backup now and then, because the records live only in this browser.

Ideas for class

  • Log at the end of each day from the lesson plan: three or four quick entries.
  • Count reading aloud, nature walks, cooking and field trips under the subject they teach, and put the detail in the note.
  • Use the same subjects on the report card and the progress report so the three records agree.
  • For high school, add up the hours of a course and use them in the credit calculator.

Questions

How many hours do I need?

It depends on where you live. Some states ask for a number of hours a year, some ask for days, and some ask for neither. This page does not fill in a number. Type the one your state or umbrella school gives you, and use the link to your state's page to check it.

What counts as an hour?

That is for you to decide and, where a state or school sets a rule, for them to define. Many families count time spent learning, including reading aloud, projects and field trips, but not breaks. Write what you counted in the notes so you can explain it if asked.

Can I log time by subject and by child?

Yes. Each entry belongs to one child and one subject, and the page shows one child's year at a time. Change the subjects under Children, school years and backup to match how you teach.

What happens if I clear my browser's data?

The records go with it. They are kept only in this browser, not on our servers, so we cannot get them back. Download a backup file now and then; it holds everything, and you can restore it on any computer.

Is anything I type sent to Peabody?

No. The names, hours and notes stay in this browser on this computer. Nothing is uploaded, there is no account, and the page works the same offline once it has loaded.

Names, hours and notes are saved in this browser only, and nothing is sent to us. No sign-in, no ads.
