Exploration Education
Exploration Education sells year-long physical science courses in which the child builds projects, such as an electric racer, and then uses them for experiments. Each course comes with every project material, a student logbook, a teacher's manual with answer key and assessments, and online access to an interactive student text with quizzes. There are three levels, from kindergarten to 10th grade, plus eight-week STEAM units.

What it does well
- Every project material comes in the box, each in its own bag, with only common household tools needed.
- Children build something first and then experiment with it, which keeps the physics concrete.
- Lessons are online and student-led, so many children can work largely on their own.
- Siblings in the same grade band can share one course, and the Advanced course can count as a full year of high school credit.
Watch for
- Only physical science is covered, so life and earth science need another program.
- You need a few tools at home, such as scissors, a hammer and a glue gun.
- Standard and Advanced lessons run 45 to 50 minutes, three or five times a week.
- Children need a screen for the online text and quizzes.
It fits
A child who likes to build and tinker, with a parent who wants a science year that runs largely on its own.
It doesn’t fit
A family that wants biology or earth science, or a screen-free, book-only course.

What we read, and how we label
Every fact on a card was read on the publisher's own website on the date shown, and the page it came from is linked. A fact we could not confirm there is left out. Costs are for one child and one year of the main package, as the publisher's page showed them that day; prices and sales change. Method and format are the publisher's own description where it gives one. The only thing we say about religion is one label, secular or faith-based, given by the rule above; where the publisher's pages don't settle it, the card has no label.
