MEL Science

By MEL ScienceChecked October 31, 2026No affiliate links. Programs never pay to appear. How we label

MEL Science is a monthly subscription of hands-on science kits mailed to your home, in separate lines for STEM (from age 5), Math and Physics (from 8), Chemistry (from 10) and Medicine (from 14). Each kit comes with step-by-step visual instructions, and an app adds video guides plus VR and AR lessons. The first Chemistry kit brings a home lab with a flask, a macro lens and a VR headset.

Cost a year

What it does well

  • Kits arrive with the materials for each experiment, and most chemistry sets have enough reagents to do every experiment at least twice.
  • Visual step-by-step instructions and app video guides help a child work through an experiment.
  • Separate lines from age 5 to the teens let siblings each have a kit at their own level.
  • Subscriptions can be paused or cancelled at any time in the account page.

Watch for

  • It is one kit a month on one topic, not a sequenced course with lessons for every week, so it sits beside a main science program.
  • The VR and app lessons need a phone or tablet.
  • The page gives a starting price, not a full price list per line or per plan length, so check the total at sign-up.
  • Some chemistry kits use fire and electricity, so younger children need a grown-up beside them.

It fits

A family with a child who loves doing real experiments and wants a fresh one arriving every month.

It doesn’t fit

A family that wants a complete science course with reading, a schedule and tests, or one that wants to avoid screens.

What we read, and how we label

Every fact on a card was read on the publisher's own website on the date shown, and the page it came from is linked. A fact we could not confirm there is left out. Costs are for one child and one year of the main package, as the publisher's page showed them that day; prices and sales change. Method and format are the publisher's own description where it gives one. The only thing we say about religion is one label, secular or faith-based, given by the rule above; where the publisher's pages don't settle it, the card has no label.
