Free homeschool record keeping template

Each sheet below prints from the records you type, with your school name at the top and a signature line at the foot.

A free, printable homeschool record keeping template set is in Peabody's Record Book: attendance, hours, reading log, report card, progress report, portfolio, transcript and an evaluation packet. Instead of blank forms, each sheet prints filled from what you type, with totals worked out and a signature line. It stays on your device. Your state law page says which sheets your state asks you to keep.

Evaluation packetA cover and contents page, then the sheets you pick, with space for the evaluator.

Can I print a blank one?

The attendance sheet prints with nothing marked, so you get an empty year grid with your child's name and school year on it, to fill in by pen. The portfolio, report card and transcript need at least one entry before they print, because they are built from what you have kept.

Why a filled template beats a blank one

  • Totals add themselves: days, half days, hours by subject, credits, GPA.
  • One entry feeds several sheets: hours appear on attendance and the progress report; books finished go into course descriptions.
  • You print a fresh copy whenever someone asks, instead of copying a form by hand.

Which sheets does my state want?

Look up your state in what to file, by state: the Keep line names what its law asks you to keep and links to the statute. Missouri's record, for example, lists a plan book or diary, a portfolio of samples and a record of evaluations; Montana's lists attendance.

StateWhat its record says
MissouriThe parent keeps a plan book, diary or other written record of subjects taught and activities, a portfolio of samples of the child's work, and a record of evaluations of the child's progress (or other written or credible evidence equal to those). A daily log…
MontanaA home school must maintain records on pupil attendance and make them available to the county superintendent on request. The home school section does not require immunization records (that is listed only for nonpublic schools).

What do I need to start?

Everything you type stays in this browser on this device (IndexedDB). There is no account and nothing is sent to Peabody. Download a backup file from the Record Book now and then: one file holds the whole book, photos included, and brings it back on a new computer.

Print the first sheet

Most families start with the attendance record and the portfolio; teens add the transcript. See what to file, by state first.
