Kindergarten homeschool plan, week 28
Blends at the end: nd, st, mp, nt · Longer and shorter · Seeds and growing
Week 28 of 36 in kindergarten, in quarter 4. Five days, about 70 minutes each.
Reading: ending blends, two sounds at the end of a word, each still heard: ha-n-d, ju-m-p. Words to read and spell: hand, sand, nest, fast, jump, lamp, tent and went. Sight words: “good” and “yes”. The new story is “Jump, Jump, Jump!”, and the reread is “Frog on a Log”.
Math: Longer and shorter. Comparing the lengths of two things by lining them up, and the words longer, shorter and taller.
Science: Seeds and growing. A seed holds a baby plant and its food, and with water, warmth and light it sprouts and grows.
Read-alouds: “Meg and the Seed”, “Johnny Appleseed”, “The Bean in the Cup”, “Jack and the Beanstalk” and “Henny Penny”.
For the whole family: Open a soaked bean to find the baby plant, then plant a few and measure them each week.
