Spell words with ending blends

1. Say a word: jump, lamp, tent and went. Your child says each sound, then writes the word.
2. Check each one together and fix any letter that is off.
3. Read all eight ending blends words as fast as you can, then once more.

Taller and shorter

1. Stand back to back with your child in front of a mirror. Who is taller?
2. Line up five toys from shortest to tallest.

Plant seeds

1. Plant a few seeds (beans, peas or sunflowers) in cups or in the garden.
2. Label each with the date and the kind of seed.

1. Read “Johnny Appleseed” aloud, with your child beside you where they can see the pictures.
2. Stop halfway and ask: what do you think will happen next?
