Kindergarten homeschool plan, week 20
Two letters, one sound: ch · Parts of 8, 9 and 10 · Water on Earth
Week 20 of 36 in kindergarten, in quarter 3. Five days, about 70 minutes each.
Reading: ch, /ch/, a sneeze sound, as in chin, chip and lunch. Words to read and spell: chin, chip, chop, chat, much, rich, lunch and bench. Sight words: “away” and “funny”. The new story is “Chip and the Shell”, and the reread is “Fish in a Dish”.
Math: Parts of 8, 9 and 10. Breaking 8, 9 and 10 into two parts, and writing each way as an equation.
Science: Water on Earth. Oceans, lakes, rivers and rain: most of Earth is covered by water, and the same water moves around and around.
Read-alouds: “Rain's Long Trip”, “Under the Sea”, “Ben and the Puddle Boat”, “Lulu the Lanternfish Lights Up” and “Tom and the Big Fish”.
For the whole family: Fill a bowl with water and talk about everywhere water goes in a day at your home.
