Kindergarten homeschool plan, week 19

Two letters, one sound: sh · Parts of 6 and 7 · Needs and wants

Week 19 of 36 in kindergarten, in quarter 3. Five days, about 70 minutes each.

Reading: sh, /sh/, the sound for being quiet, as in ship, fish and shell. Words to read and spell: ship, shop, shed, fish, dish, wish, shut and cash. Sight words: “make” and “where”. The new story is “Fish in a Dish”, and the reread is “Fox and the Hen”.

Math: Parts of 6 and 7. Breaking 6 and 7 into two parts in different ways, with number bonds and counters.

History: Needs and wants. Needs are things we must have to live, wants are things we would like, and people work to pay for both.

Read-alouds: “The Dog and the Bone”, “The Goose That Laid the Golden Eggs”, “The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse”, “The Dog in the Manger” and “Stone Soup”.

For the whole family: Cut pictures from an old catalog and sort them into needs and wants on two sheets.
