Kindergarten homeschool plan, week 12
Letters k and j · Counting to 50 · What plants need
Week 12 of 36 in kindergarten, in quarter 2. Five days, about 70 minutes each.
Reading: the sounds of k and j, one a day, then blending them with the letters learned before. Sight words: “play” and “run”. The new story is “Rat's Hut”, and the reread is “Can Ted Hop?”.
Math: Counting to 50. Counting to 50 by ones, starting from any number, and noticing the pattern in the tens.
Science: What plants need. Plants need light, water, air and space to grow, and they make their own food from light.
Read-alouds: “The Bean in the Cup”, “Jack and the Beanstalk”, “The Fox and the Grapes”, “Stone Soup” and “The Little Red Hen”.
For the whole family: Plant beans in cups: give some light and water, and leave one in the dark, and watch for a week.
