Spell words with soft c and g

1. Say a word: gem, giant, page and huge. Your child says each sound, then writes the word.
2. Check each one together and fix any letter that is off.
3. Read all eight soft c and g words as fast as you can, then once more.

1. Pick one sentence from a book about money and rewrite it in your own words.
2. Your child reads a short passage, closes it, and writes three facts from memory in their own words.

A new ten

1. Build 256 + 137. The ones make 13, so trade ten ones for a ten. Then add the tens and hundreds: 393.
2. Do 418 + 245 the same way.

Dissolving

1. Stir salt into warm water until it disappears. Leave a spoonful in a dish in the sun for a few days and see what comes back.
2. Your child draws a labeled diagram of today's science and writes a sentence under it.

Needs first

1. With a pretend 20 dollars, a family must buy food and a bus ticket before any wants. Make a shopping list that stays under 20 dollars.
