What a school profile is for
A high school sends colleges a profile that explains its courses and grades, so a reader can make sense of the transcript. A homeschool can send one too. It answers the questions a reader would otherwise have to ask: who taught, how work was graded, which courses were taken through a co-op, an online school or a college, and which tests were taken outside the home.
What to write
- How you teach: a few plain sentences, in your words. What a day looks like and how you check that work was learned.
- Course sources: one line each, such as a co-op, an online class or dual enrollment at a community college.
- Outside testing: the tests and the year taken. Share scores only if you want to.
The grading scale comes from your Record Book, the same one the transcript prints, so the two never disagree. Run the transcript checker before you print both.
