Kindergarten homeschool plan, week 7
Letters g and h · More shapes: hexagons and solid shapes · Day and night
Week 7 of 36 in kindergarten, in quarter 1. Five days, about 70 minutes each.
Reading: the sounds of g and h, one a day, then blending them with the letters learned before. Sight words: “my” and “me”. The new story is “Pam Pins a Map”, and the reread is “Tim Taps”.
Math: More shapes: hexagons and solid shapes. Hexagons, and the solid shapes children can hold: cubes, spheres, cones and cylinders.
Science: Day and night. The sun, the moon and the stars, and the pattern of day and night.
Read-alouds: “The Moon Follows Me”, “The Moon's Night Off”, “The Night Bus”, “Mina and the Eight Planets” and “The Letter for the Moon”.
For the whole family: Look at the moon on a clear evening and draw its shape; look again a few nights later.
