Kindergarten homeschool plan, week 6
Letters c and o · Flat shapes · Sun and shade
Week 6 of 36 in kindergarten, in quarter 1. Five days, about 70 minutes each.
Reading: the sounds of c and o, one a day, then blending them with the letters learned before. Sight words: “to” and “go”. The new story is “Tim Taps”, and the reread is “Sid Sat”.
Math: Flat shapes. Naming circles, squares, triangles and rectangles by their sides and corners, and finding them in the world.
Science: Sun and shade. Sunlight warms the ground, water and air, and shade keeps things cooler.
Read-alouds: “The Sun Is a Star”, “Gus and the Big Rock”, “Dot and the Log”, “Why Is the Sky Blue?” and “From the Sun to the Pedals”.
For the whole family: Put two cups of water out, one in the sun and one in the shade, and feel them after an hour.
