Kindergarten, week 6, day 5

Day 30 of 180 · Science: Sun and shade · about 70 minutes

Reading20 min

Reread: Sid Sat

  1. Reread “Sid Sat” from last week. The second time is smoother and quicker: that is fluency growing.
  2. Find this week's sight words, “to” and “go”, in the book or on their cards.
  3. Let your child pick one page to read to someone else in the family.
Math20 min

Shape pictures

  1. Cut circles, squares, triangles and rectangles from paper.
  2. Glue them into a picture, such as a house from a square and a triangle, and name each shape in it.
Science15 min

The sun is a star

  1. The sun is a star, very close to us. The stars at night are suns too, far away.
  2. Never look straight at the sun: it can hurt your eyes.
Read-aloud15 min

Read-aloud: From the Sun to the Pedals

  1. Read “From the Sun to the Pedals” aloud. If your child asks to hear it again, say yes: hearing a story twice is how it sticks.
  2. This one is true. Afterward, ask: what is one new thing you learned? Then find one more fact in it together.
