Kindergarten homeschool plan, week 30
More than one: adding s · Sorting and counting · Life cycles
Week 30 of 36 in kindergarten, in quarter 4. Five days, about 70 minutes each.
Reading: adding s, an s on the end means more than one: one cat, two cats; sometimes it says /z/, as in dogs. Words to read and spell: cats, dogs, pigs, hats, bugs, pens, cups and beds. Sight words: “at” and “am”. The new story is “At the Farm”, and the reread is “Where Is the Cat?”.
Math: Sorting and counting. Sorting things into groups by color, size or shape, counting each group, and comparing the groups.
Science: Life cycles. Frogs, butterflies and chickens start small and change as they grow, and their young look like or unlike their parents.
Read-alouds: “Frogs Are Amazing”, “Tadpoles in a Jar”, “Big Egg”, “The Ugly Duckling” and “Dot and the Log”.
For the whole family: Draw the life cycle of a frog as a circle of pictures, each child drawing one stage.
