Kindergarten homeschool plan, week 15
Letters x and y · Taking away · Ramps and rolling
Week 15 of 36 in kindergarten, in quarter 2. Five days, about 70 minutes each.
Reading: the sounds of x and y, one a day, then blending them with the letters learned before. Sight words: “red” and “blue”. The new story is “Six Cats, Six Hats”, and the reread is “Pup in the Tub”.
Math: Taking away. Subtracting as taking some away, with story problems within 5 acted out with things.
Science: Ramps and rolling. Ramps make things roll; steeper ramps and smoother surfaces change how fast and how far.
Read-alouds: “The Tortoise and the Hare”, “The Snail Race”, “The Gingerbread Man”, “Look at the Big Pig” and “Coo Catches Gumdrop”.
For the whole family: Build a ramp from a board or a book and race toy cars, changing one thing at a time.
