1. Say a word: deer, cheer, steer and peer. Your child says each sound, then writes the word.
2. Check each one together and fix any letter that is off.
3. Read all eight ear and eer words as fast as you can, then once more.

Revising it

1. Revise the piece: add a detail, cut a sentence that doesn't belong, and make the ending stronger.
2. Your child picks their best piece of the year, revises it, copies it neatly, and reads it to the family.

Sun on paper

1. Sunlight can burn skin, even on cloudy days. Leave dark paper in the sun with a few objects on it for an afternoon.
2. Lift the objects: what did the sun do to the paper?
