- Read these words together, running a finger under each one as you say it: men, women, feet and teeth.
- Your child finds a irregular plurals word in a book or on a box at home.

Social studies20 min
A one-room home
- Long ago, many homes had one or two rooms, a fireplace for heat and cooking, and no running water.
- Draw a floor plan of a one-room home and label where people cooked, slept and ate.
Read-aloud15 min
Read-aloud: The Boxcar Children
- Read “The Boxcar Children” aloud. It is above what your child reads alone, on purpose: hearing longer stories builds words and understanding.
- Before reading, look at the title and the first page and ask: what do you think this story is about?
- On the read-along you can show the pages on a big screen, or let it read the words aloud while each one lights up.
- The Boxcar Children, read-along on screenteach.peabody.kids/read-aloud/the-boxcar-children
