1st grade homeschool plan, week 13
Endings: -ed · Tens and ones · Animal homes
Week 13 of 36 in 1st grade, in quarter 2. Five days, about 85 minutes each.
Reading: -ed, -ed means it already happened, and it says /t/ (jumped), /d/ (played) or /ed/ (rested). Words to read and spell: jumped, helped, played, rained, rested, landed, picked and filled. Sight words: “of” and “old”. The new story is “Dex on the Bus”, and the reread is “Meg and the Seed”.
Math: Tens and ones. Seeing a two-digit number as tens and ones: 34 is 3 tens and 4 ones.
Science: Animal homes. Animals build and choose homes, and in doing it they change the places they live.
Read-alouds: “The Three Little Pigs”, “Look at Ants”, “The Wolf and the Seven Little Goats”, “The Cat That Walked by Himself” and “Goldilocks and the Three Bears”.
For the whole family: Look for animal homes on a walk: nests, holes, webs and hives, and draw the best one.
