1st grade homeschool plan, week 1
Short a and short i · Counting to 120 · All about me
Week 1 of 36 in 1st grade, in quarter 1. Five days, about 85 minutes each.
Reading: short a and i, a as in cat and i as in sit: one short vowel between consonants. Words to read and spell: cat, map, bag, jam, sit, pig, lid and win. Sight words: “after” and “again”. The new story is “Where Is the Cat?”, and the reread is “A Cat and a Dog”.
Math: Counting to 120. Counting to 120 from any number, reading and writing the numbers, and finding them on a chart.
History: All about me. Children start with themselves: their name, their family, how they have grown, and what they like.
Read-alouds: “Eeyore's Birthday”, “Priya Moves Away”, “My Teeth”, “The Ugly Duckling” and “Dumpling Takes the Lead”.
For the whole family: Look at baby pictures together and put everyone in the family in order from youngest to oldest.
