Easy Grammar
Easy Grammar, by Dr. Wanda Phillips, is a grammar program sold as a Teacher Edition and a Student Workbook for each grade from 1st to 6th, plus Easy Grammar Plus and the Ultimate Series for older students. From grade 3 the books teach prepositions first and build the rest of grammar from there. Daily GRAMS, a separate 10-minute daily review of capitalization, punctuation and other skills, is for grades 3 to 7.

What it does well
- A year of grammar costs under $60 for the Teacher Edition and Student Workbook together.
- Daily GRAMS takes about 10 minutes, and the author suggests 2 to 3 Easy Grammar lessons a day, adjusted to the child.
- Downloadable assessment tests for grades 3 and up help decide between a child's grade level and the next one.
- The series runs from 1st grade to high school, so a family can stay with one approach for years.
Watch for
- Writing is not part of Easy Grammar; it is sold as a separate book, Easy Writing.
- Grammar is taught in its own lessons, so the parent has to link it to the child's writing.
- Daily GRAMS is a review book, not a full course, and is meant to sit beside a grammar text.
It fits
A family that wants a plain, low-cost grammar workbook with a Teacher Edition to teach from, used a little each day.
It doesn’t fit
A family that wants grammar, writing and literature together in one language arts course.

What we read, and how we label
Every fact on a card was read on the publisher's own website on the date shown, and the page it came from is linked. A fact we could not confirm there is left out. Costs are for one child and one year of the main package, as the publisher's page showed them that day; prices and sales change. Method and format are the publisher's own description where it gives one. The only thing we say about religion is one label, secular or faith-based, given by the rule above; where the publisher's pages don't settle it, the card has no label.
