Volunteer hours on a homeschool transcript
A homeschool transcript can say more than courses and grades: sports, jobs, outside classes and service. Service has its own line, with its hours.
Put volunteer hours in a short block under the courses, not in the GPA: for each place, the organization, what your student did, the dates and the hours, with a total at the end. Keep the record as it happens, and ask the organization for a signed note of the hours. Peabody's free activities log prints an "Activities and service" block on the transcript, with hours totalled by kind.

What goes in each line?
- The organization: the library, the food bank, the animal shelter.
- What your student did, in a few words: "shelved and read to the toddler group".
- The start and end dates.
- The hours. Count them as you go; a total guessed in senior year is hard to stand behind.
How should the hours be totalled?
By kind, then in all. The Record Book keeps four kinds, extracurricular, volunteer service, outside class and job, and the transcript's block ends with each kind's hours, such as "Volunteer service: 120 hours".
Should service be a course instead?
Sometimes. If the service came with real study and work you graded (a semester of reading and reports on the river beside the cleanups, say), it can be a course with credits. Keep the activity too, as the record of where the hours were. If it was service alone, leave it in the block and out of the GPA.
How do I show the hours are real?
Ask the place for a short signed note or email with the dates and hours, and keep it with your records. The transcript says what you certify; the note is there if anyone asks.
Log them
The activities page keeps sports and clubs, volunteer service, outside classes and jobs, each with its organization, dates and hours. The transcript prints an "Activities and service" block only when there is something in it, and "Make it a course" turns an outside class into a course at the level and credits you choose. Everything stays in this browser.
