Kindergarten, week 32, day 5

Day 160 of 180 · Science: Build it strong · about 70 minutes

Reading20 min

Reread: In My Bag

  1. Reread “In My Bag” from last week. The second time is smoother and quicker: that is fluency growing.
  2. Find this week's sight words, “saw” and “ran”, in the book or on their cards.
  3. Let your child pick one page to read to someone else in the family.
Math20 min

Shape patterns

  1. Make patterns with shapes: circle, square, circle, square. What comes next?
  2. Try a harder one: circle, circle, triangle.
Science15 min

A bridge for toys

  1. Lay a sheet of paper across two books to make a bridge.
  2. How many coins will it hold? Fold the paper and try again.
Read-aloud15 min

Read-aloud: The Fox and the Stork

  1. Read “The Fox and the Stork” aloud. If your child asks to hear it again, say yes: hearing a story twice is how it sticks.
  2. This is an old tale, told for a long time. Afterward, ask: what did someone in the story learn?
