Kindergarten homeschool plan, week 32
Silent e: i_e · Making shapes from shapes · Build it strong
Week 32 of 36 in kindergarten, in quarter 4. Five days, about 70 minutes each.
Reading: i_e, the silent e makes the i say its name: kit becomes kite. Words to read and spell: kite, bike, time, five, ride, hide, like and nine. Sight words: “saw” and “ran”. The new story is “Go, Snail, Go!”, and the reread is “In My Bag”.
Math: Making shapes from shapes. Putting shapes together to make new ones: two triangles make a square.
Science: Build it strong. Engineers solve problems by building, testing and making it better, the same steps children use with blocks.
Read-alouds: “Ben and the Blocks”, “The Three Little Pigs”, “Coo Catches Gumdrop”, “Eeyore's Birthday” and “The Fox and the Stork”.
For the whole family: Have a tower contest with paper cups or blocks: the tallest tower that stands for ten seconds wins.
