Kindergarten, week 31, day 4
Day 154 of 180 · Science: Sink or float · about 70 minutes
Reading20 min
Read: In My Bag
- Your child reads it, and you help with words they can't sound out yet. Look for the a_e words.
- When your child is stuck, say the first sound and let them finish the word, rather than saying the whole word.
- Afterward, ask your child to tell it back: what happened first, next and last?
- In My Bag, to read on screenon peabody.kidspeabody.kids/library/in-my-bag
Math20 min
Faces of a box
- Trace each face of a cereal box on paper.
- What flat shapes did you get? Rectangles, maybe squares.
Science15 min
Big and small
- Is it only about weight? Test a big apple and a small coin.
- The apple floats and the coin sinks. Talk about why that might be.
Read-aloud15 min
Read-aloud: Ben and the Puddle Boat
- Read “Ben and the Puddle Boat” aloud, and let your child turn the pages.
- Afterward, ask: who was your favorite in the story, and why?
- On the read-along you can show the pages on a big screen, or let it read the words aloud while each one lights up.
- Ben and the Puddle Boat, read-along on screenteach.peabody.kids/read-aloud/ben-and-the-puddle-boat
