Reading25 min

Reread: Fay and the Kite

  1. Reread “Fay and the Kite” from last week. The second time is smoother and quicker: that is fluency growing.
  2. Find this week's sight words, “then” and “think”, in the book or on their cards.
  3. Let your child pick one page to read to someone else in the family.
Writing15 min

Saving is smart

  1. Write your opinion about saving money, with a reason and an ending sentence.
  2. Your child writes an opinion with a reason about spending and saving, and ends by saying the opinion again.
Math25 min

Two-digit and one-digit sums

  1. Make a sheet of sums like 45 + 8 on the worksheet generator, some that make a new ten and some that don't.
  2. Your child circles the ones that made a new ten.
Science10 min

A mixing chart

  1. Test salt, rice, flour and pepper in water, and make a chart: dissolves, sinks, or floats.
  2. Your child writes one question today's science made them wonder about.
Social studies20 min

A saving plan

  1. Your child picks one want to save for and writes its price.
  2. Make a chart to color in each time money goes into the jar.
Read-aloud15 min

Read-aloud: Puss in Boots

  1. Read “Puss in Boots” aloud. If your child asks to hear it again, say yes: hearing a story twice is how it sticks.
  2. This is an old tale, told for a long time. Afterward, ask: what did someone in the story learn?
