igh and y in sentences

  1. Read the igh and y words from this week again, then read them in sentences: on the decodable page, or in three short sentences you write.
  2. New sight words: “then” and “think”. These are read by sight, not sounded out. Write each on a card and read the cards every day this week.

Choosing one

  1. Write which of two toys you would choose and what you would give up.

Science10 min

Mix two colors

  1. Mix blue and yellow, red and yellow, and red and blue paint, and name each new color.

Social studies20 min

Goods and services we pay for

  1. Some things people pay for are goods, like food and clothes, and some are services, like a haircut or a doctor's visit.
  2. Your child sorts ten of them into goods and services.
Read-aloud15 min

Read-aloud: The Emperor's New Clothes

  1. Read “The Emperor's New Clothes” aloud. Give the characters different voices; it helps a young listener follow who is talking.
  2. This is an old tale, told for a long time. Afterward, ask: what did someone in the story learn?
