Wildwood Curriculum is a Charlotte Mason plan on a website, written by volunteer homeschooling parents and modelled on the programmes Mason's schools used. It is set out in Forms for ages 6 to 15, each with book choices, alternates, and three 12-week terms that end in a week of exams. Mornings are for lessons; afternoons are for nature study, art, music, handwork and time outdoors.

What it does well

  • The plan is free, and book choices are made for you in each Form, with alternates for many titles and some books free to read online.
  • The plan follows the term structure of Mason's own schools: three 12-week terms, each ending with a week of exams.
  • Composer, picture, song and Shakespeare study are meant for the whole family, so children in different Forms can share them.
  • Library, used and already-owned copies can stand in for the listed books.

Watch for

  • Math and phonics are not part of the plan, so you choose your own.
  • There are no weekly or daily schedules yet; the site says it hopes to add them.
  • The site says the later Forms are still being written, and it earns a small fee on some bookseller links.
  • With no teacher guides, the parent needs to learn how narration and Mason's short lessons work.

It fits

A family drawn to Charlotte Mason who wants book choices made for them and is happy to pick its own math and phonics.

It doesn’t fit

A parent who wants a boxed set with day-by-day lesson plans, or a course for high school.

What we read, and how we label

Every fact on a card was read on the publisher's own website on the date shown, and the page it came from is linked. A fact we could not confirm there is left out. Costs are for one child and one year of the main package, as the publisher's page showed them that day; prices and sales change. Method and format are the publisher's own description where it gives one. The only thing we say about religion is one label, secular or faith-based, given by the rule above; where the publisher's pages don't settle it, the card has no label.
