Typing.com
Typing.com is a website of keyboarding lessons, timed tests and typing games, with grade-based lessons from kindergarten to 12th grade. A parent sets up an instructor account, makes a class and adds children, then sees their progress, test results and goals. The free edition has ads; the paid PLUS edition removes them and adds courses in digital citizenship, computer skills, coding and creative writing.

- Placement
- No placement test on the publisher’s site when we checked.
What it does well
- The typing lessons, tests and games cost nothing.
- Lessons are set by grade from kindergarten up and move from basic to advanced technique.
- Timed tests are graded automatically, and the parent sees progress and goals in one place.
- One instructor account lets a parent track several children in a class.
Watch for
- The free edition shows ads to children; only PLUS is ad-free.
- Free accounts keep progress data for only 70 days.
- Typing is one skill, not a language arts course, so it sits beside your writing and grammar program.
- PLUS has no posted price; you ask for a quote.
It fits
A family that wants free, structured typing practice with progress tracking for children of several ages.
It doesn’t fit
A family that wants no ads in front of children and will not pay for PLUS, or one looking for a full writing course.

What we read, and how we label
Every fact on a card was read on the publisher's own website on the date shown, and the page it came from is linked. A fact we could not confirm there is left out. Costs are for one child and one year of the main package, as the publisher's page showed them that day; prices and sales change. Method and format are the publisher's own description where it gives one. The only thing we say about religion is one label, secular or faith-based, given by the rule above; where the publisher's pages don't settle it, the card has no label.
The publisher’s pages we read on October 31, 2026:
