Mathseeds is an online math program for ages 3 to 9, used on a computer or tablet, from the makers of Reading Eggs. It covers kindergarten to 3rd grade math with structured one-on-one lessons and game-like rewards that build early number sense and problem solving. A placement test sets each child on a personal path, and families get progress reports, printable worksheets and free 36-week program guides for planning.

What it does well

  • One plan covers up to four children, each with their own profile and path.
  • A placement test puts each child at the right lesson, so a child can start without a parent planning the order.
  • Free 36-week program guides for each grade help a parent plan the year.
  • A 30-day free trial on the monthly plans lets a family try it first.

Watch for

  • The work happens on a screen; printed workbooks are sold separately.
  • It stops at 3rd grade math, so older children need another program.
  • Only the monthly plans start with 30 days free; the yearly plans show no free trial.

It fits

A family with young children who want short, playful math lessons on a tablet, especially one already using Reading Eggs.

It doesn’t fit

A family that wants hands-on math with objects and a parent teaching, or wants to keep young children off screens.

What we read, and how we label

Every fact on a card was read on the publisher's own website on the date shown, and the page it came from is linked. A fact we could not confirm there is left out. Costs are for one child and one year of the main package, as the publisher's page showed them that day; prices and sales change. Method and format are the publisher's own description where it gives one. The only thing we say about religion is one label, secular or faith-based, given by the rule above; where the publisher's pages don't settle it, the card has no label.
