Homeschool transcript example

Here is a sample four-year transcript for a made-up student, with each year's GPA computed by the same code the free transcript uses.

A homeschool transcript example shows four years of courses with credits and grades, a GPA for each year and overall, and a signed certification. In the sample below, a made-up student earns 21.5 credits with a 3.59 unweighted and 3.69 weighted GPA, computed by the formula in Peabody's GPA calculator and Record Book transcript, where you can make your own.

Checked October 30, 2026.

The sample transcript

Plus and minus count 0.3 with A+ held at 4.0; honors adds 0.5, AP adds 1, dual enrollment adds nothing. One course is still in progress, so it is not counted.

A made-up student. GPA and weighted GPA per year, worked out with lib/teach/homeschool/gpa.ts.

The summary lines

What is each line for?

  • The heading (school name, student, date of birth, graduation date) tells a reader whose record it is and when the student finishes.
  • Year headings such as "10th grade, 2024-2025" show when each course was taken.
  • H, AP and DE beside a course name say why it carries extra points. Dual enrollment here adds none, a common choice; you set it.
  • Physical Education is P: it earns its half credit and is left out of the average.
  • Each year's footer gives credits earned and that year's GPA; the summary divides once over all years.
  • The grading scale shows a reader how your letters became points.
  • The certification, signature and date issued are where you stand behind the record.

What goes with it?

  • Course descriptions for anything a reader might not recognize, printed after the transcript.
  • For a dual enrollment course, the college's own transcript too; Maryland's record, for one, accepts a college report card or transcript for those courses in its portfolio.
  • Test scores, if the colleges or programs your student applies to ask for them.

Is the example's GPA the same one the tool gives?

Yes. The numbers above are not typed in; this page runs the sample through the same function the transcript and the GPA calculator use. Type these courses into either and you get 3.59 and 3.69.

Make your own

Open the transcript and add courses year by year, or start in the GPA calculator and bring the courses in. Write descriptions with the course description maker.
