Timeline sheet

History makes more sense when you can see what came before what.

A homeschool timeline is a line of years with events, people and inventions added in order as you meet them. This free sheet leaves the years blank so it fits any period: mark tens for a family history, hundreds for a country's story, thousands for ancient history. Tape several sheets end to end for a wall timeline.

Checked October 30, 2026.

How do we set the years?

Pick the span first. Ten-year steps suit the last century; hundred-year steps suit a country's story; thousand-year steps suit the ancient world. Write the years before adding anything.

What goes on it?

Whatever you study: an event, a person's life, an invention, a book's setting. A small drawing beside each makes it easier to remember.

Several children?

Keep one family timeline on the wall and add to it together; each child's drawings on it are a shared record of the year.
