  1. This week: r blends. A sound and then /r/, blended: f-r-o-g, t-r-i-p.
  2. Read these words together, running a finger under each one as you say it: frog, crab, drum and grin.
  3. Your child finds a r blends word in a book or on a box at home.
Math20 min

Counting to 60

  1. Count to 60 by ones, pointing to each number on the hundreds chart.
  2. Stop at each ten and clap.
Science15 min

Your heart

  1. Your heart is a muscle about as big as your fist, and it pumps blood all day and night.
  2. Make a fist and squeeze it, like a heart pumping.
Read-aloud15 min

Read-aloud: How the Leopard Got His Spots

  1. Read “How the Leopard Got His Spots” aloud. It is above what your child reads alone, on purpose: hearing longer stories builds words and understanding.
  2. Before reading, look at the title and the first page and ask: what do you think this story is about?
  3. On the read-along you can show the pages on a big screen, or let it read the words aloud while each one lights up.
