Reading20 min

New: l blends

  1. This week: l blends. A sound and then /l/, blended: b-l-a-ck, f-l-a-g.
  2. Read these words together, running a finger under each one as you say it: black, clap, flag and flip.
  3. Your child finds a l blends word in a book or on a box at home.
Math20 min

Ten and three

  1. Show 13 as a full ten frame and 3 more. 13 is 10 and 3.
  2. Write it as 10 + 3 = 13.
Science15 min

Your skeleton

  1. Your bones hold you up and keep the soft parts inside safe.
  2. Feel the bones in your hand, your arm and your knee.
Read-aloud15 min

Read-aloud: Tavi and the Bones Under Her Skin

  1. Read “Tavi and the Bones Under Her Skin” aloud. It is above what your child reads alone, on purpose: hearing longer stories builds words and understanding.
  2. This one is true. Afterward, ask: what is one new thing you learned? Then find one more fact in it together.
  3. On the read-along you can show the pages on a big screen, or let it read the words aloud while each one lights up.
