Kindergarten, week 13, day 5

Day 65 of 180 · Science: Animal homes · about 70 minutes

Reading20 min

Reread: Rat's Hut

  1. Reread “Rat's Hut” from last week. The second time is smoother and quicker: that is fluency growing.
  2. Find this week's sight words, “help” and “jump”, in the book or on their cards.
  3. Let your child pick one page to read to someone else in the family.
Math20 min

Put them in order

  1. Write three numbers under 10 on cards, such as 7, 2 and 5.
  2. Your child puts them in order from least to greatest, then from greatest to least.
Science15 min

Small creatures' homes

  1. Look outside for webs, ant hills and holes in leaves.
  2. Who made each one? How did it change the place?
Read-aloud15 min

Read-aloud: Pim and the Mitten

  1. Read “Pim and the Mitten” aloud. If your child asks to hear it again, say yes: hearing a story twice is how it sticks.
  2. Afterward, ask: has anything like this happened to you? How was it the same, or different?
