New sound: s says /s/

  1. Say the sound /s/ together, the sound at the start of sun, sock and sit. Keep it short and crisp, without an "uh" after it.
  2. Show big S and small s. Trace each with a finger, then write a row of each.
  3. Sort toys or pictures into two piles: m words and s words.
Math20 min

How many?

  1. Put out 3 things. Count them together, then ask: how many are there? The last number you said is the answer.
  2. Do the same with 2, 4, 1 and 5 things, moving them around so they aren't always in a line.
History15 min

How I have grown

  1. Look at a baby picture together. What could your child do then? What can they do now?
  2. Stand your child against a wall, mark their height with today's date, and measure again at the end of the year.
Read-aloud15 min

Read-aloud: A Boo for Bea

  1. Read “A Boo for Bea” aloud, with your child beside you where they can see the pictures.
  2. Stop halfway and ask: what do you think will happen next?
