Reading25 min

Review words in sentences

  1. Read these review words, then use each in a sentence out loud: rain, tree, boat, mail, feet and coat.
  2. Mix them up: point to a word at random and see if your child can read it.
  3. New sight words: “thank” and “them”. These are read by sight, not sounded out. Write each on a card and read the cards every day this week.
Math25 min

Comparing check

  1. Write six pairs of two-digit numbers; your child writes >, = or < between them.
  2. Ask how they knew for two of them.
History20 min

Interview a helper

  1. On an errand, ask a helper what they like about their job.
  2. Your child writes or tells the answer when you get home.
Read-aloud15 min

Read-aloud: The Letter for the Moon

  1. Read “The Letter for the Moon” aloud. Give the characters different voices; it helps a young listener follow who is talking.
  2. Afterward, ask your child to tell the story back to you: first, next, last.
