Pennsylvania asks for a notice: Before the program starts, then every year on August 1., to Superintendent of the school district where you live.. Below are that notice, the letter to the school your child is leaving, and the letters for when homeschooling ends or you move.
Checked October 27, 2026. Information, not legal advice: Pennsylvania's statute and education department are the final word.

To: Superintendent of the school district where you live. · When: Before the program starts, then every year on August 1. · Pennsylvania's own notice, with the lines its law lists: the letter of intent maker.
What Pennsylvania's law asks the notice to give: File a notarized affidavit with the superintendent of your school district before the home education program starts, and again every year on August 1. It names the person who will teach, each child's name and age, the address and phone of the program, an outline of education objectives by subject, and proof of immunization and the health services the law lists. It also certifies that no adult in the home has been convicted of the listed crimes in the past five years. Put each item in the details box, one a line.

- Read what to file in Pennsylvania: the To and By lines there are the ones these letters use, each linked to the law.
- Keep a copy, and send it a way you can prove: by hand with a dated receipt, by certified mail, or by email if the office accepts it.
- Taking a child out of school mid-year? See the Pennsylvania checklist for the order of steps.
