Homeschool money
What money a homeschool family can really get, and what it can change. Each page names its source and the date we checked.
There is no payment to parents for homeschooling, but some money exists: about 18 states have education accounts or credits that homeschool families can use, some states offer a tax credit, 529 plans may cover some costs in some states, and the federal scholarship tax credit under 26 U.S.C. 25F starts on 1 January 2027. Whether it pays for homeschool is not settled.
Checked October 29, 2026.
This is a plain-words summary, not legal or tax advice. Rules change: check the current law and the program's own pages, and ask a tax adviser about your family before you count on any money.
