A free kindergarten homeschool plan

Peabody Year's 180 kindergarten days, the shape of a week, and the free Peabody practice that goes with each part of the day.

Peabody's free kindergarten plan is Peabody Year: 180 days of phonics, math, science, history and read-alouds, with a checklist to print each day. Use it with the free kid site for practice: level 1 to 5 books, the kindergarten math path and sound games. A typical day is about an hour of sit-down work in short pieces, measured against the CDC's milestones for age 5.

Checked October 29, 2026.

What is Peabody Year for kindergarten?

Peabody Year: kindergarten is a free plan of 180 days. Each day has its phonics, math, science or history, and read-aloud, with a checklist to print. It takes a child from the first letter sounds to reading short books, and from counting to adding and taking away. It's free, with no sign-in, like everything on Peabody Homeschool.

What Peabody doesn't do

It isn't a boxed curriculum with a teacher's guide, it has no handwriting program, and it never records your child, so it can't hear them read. Handwriting is paper and pencil; reading aloud together is yours. If you want a bought program for one subject, the curriculum comparison lists them side by side, and the free curricula page compares the free ones.

How do I keep records for kindergarten?

Only if your child is of compulsory school age where you live, and your state asks. The kindergarten page lists each state's starting age. Peabody Year's printed checklists, a reading log and a few dated work samples in a portfolio cover what most families need.

How do I know the year went well?

Peabody Parents lists what a kindergartner should know by the end of the year. Children vary; a child who isn't there yet isn't failing. The CDC's checklist for age 5 is the floor most children start the year from, and if something worries you, talk with your child's doctor.
