Is kindergarten required, or can you skip it?
Asked by families. Answered by Peabody editors from the sources below.
Kindergarten at home covers letter sounds and blending short words, counting and adding within 10, and lots of reading aloud, usually in about an hour of sit-down time a day. Whether it's required depends on your state's compulsory school age: Peabody's state law pages show school starting at 5 in some states and at 6, 7 or 8 in others, where kindergarten is optional.

This is a plain-words summary, not legal advice. Laws change: check your state's current law and its education department before you act.
